Senator John McCain, not willing to engage our Ted Cruz directly, waited until after Cruz had yielded the floor and could not respond to launch what can only be described as a boorish, cowardly, and quite shallow attack on Senator Cruz. And in his rather pro-Democrat attack Senator McCain let slip a new phrase that lets the proverbial cat out of the bag.
McCain didn’t use the GOP mantra of the last few years “repeal and replace” Obamacare. Nope, he said “repeal and repair” or “repeal or repair”. It’s not the conjunction that matters but the word repair used instead of replace. It’s clear that many of the old-Washington-hands are quite comfortable keeping a plan that puts the government in nominal control of about a fifth of the economy. The socialism light doesn’t bother as it brings even more power to D.C.
Loutish John McCain doesn’t surprise me but, “Et tu, Perry”?!
“I don’t think it’s a good option,” Governor Rick Perry said in an interview with ABC News, talking about the threat to shutdown government. “There’s still time to sit down and try to fix Obamacare.”
Perry made the statement that has him joining the likes of John McCain and other DC RINOS as Ted Cruz was still speaking on the Senate floor. Either Perry meant it or it’s the biggest and most serious gaffe yet. Either way it’s a serious warning to conservatives who understand that anything short of full repeal of Obamacare leaves in place the fundamental problems with Federalism it creates.
