What does Trump have on the Mexican president?

Pratt on Texas - copyright Pratt on Texas all rights reservedChihuahua Gov. Javier Corral says there is not enough water for both Mexican farmers and repayments to Texas from the Rio Grande watershed. The governor wants an explanation from the Mexican National Guard for why it confronted farmers who took over a damn near Ojinaga and attempted to gain control of the control room of the La Boquilla dam.

“We have never questioned that we have to fulfill our commitment to the United States … but first we have to ensure access to water for farmers in our state and then comply with the treaty,” the governor said.

Longtime listeners of Pratt on Texas know that the treaty obligations of both the USA and Mexico on Rio Grande water have been contentious from time to time. The USA has withheld water releases and owed Mexico at times as well as the other way around.

what does President Trump have on López Obrador that the Leftist leader keeps passing up low-hanging-political-fruit opportunities

Interestingly Mexico’s Leftist longwinded president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has said there is enough water both for local farmers and payments to the United States. “We do not want an international conflict. Treaties have to be lived up to. If we have signed a treaty, we have to comply with it,” the Mexican president said.

I do admire the pluck of Chihuahuan farmers and ranchers for attempting to take over the dams even if they are not in the right. But what I truly wonder from this and other issues, and surely other Mexico watchers do as well, is just what does President Trump have on López Obrador that the Leftist leader keeps passing up low-hanging-political-fruit opportunities to inflame the street and blame the USA for his plethora of political problems. There must be something significant.
