Leftist federal judge upsets refugee resettlement policy

Pratt on TexasMark Steyn, while hosting for Rush, has often decried the American Federal system of justice as being anything but just. Steyn is right in many ways including that it generally operates as a one-sided behemoth which uses uses cost and time to wear down the ability of anyone, including a person of hefty resources, to actually fight charges brought against one by the state.

Within a few minutes of Steyn making another comment in this vein, this headline was posted: “Judge halts Trump refugee order, jeopardizing Abbott move to block settlement in Texas.”

The story, in the Austin American-Statesman, reported “…a federal judge on Wednesday blocked a Trump administration rule that gave state and local officials the power to deny refugee admissions. In response to a lawsuit by resettlement agencies, U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte of Maryland temporarily blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order that required governors and local officials to agree to accept refugees.”

“Giving states and local governments the power to consent to the resettlement of refugees — which is to say veto power to determine whether refugees will be received in their midst — flies in the face of clear congressional intent,” the Clinton-appointed judge, former Peace Corps member and State Department functionary, Messitte wrote.

“Abbott became the first governor to block refugee resettlement in his state when he sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last Friday,” the Statesman reminded.

The Leftist federal judge’s ruling is pure politics as Trump’s order doesn’t allow states to set refugee resettlement policy, the order simply asks governors to consent to such resettlement in their states. Texas didn’t, for good reason, and now the Leftist political machine, masquerading as a justice system, has gone into action to oppose something with which it disagrees.
