Are Leftists actually interested in reducing mass murder or just in banning guns?

Pratt on TexasAre Leftists in political office and media trying to solve for mass murder or an armed populace with their demand for gun control?

Texas House Democratic Caucus chief, Rep. Chris Turner, told the Statesman that Republicans who are not in favor of gun control are “scapegoating people with mental health issues.” Really? So it is not a mental illness to commit mass murder? What is it Turner wants? To blame inanimate objects such as guns for mass murder? What happened to human responsible agency?

The answer is generally “yes.” The Left does wish to blame guns, while ignoring all the other dual-use instruments of murder, for mass murder episodes because its goal is not to significantly reduce murder but to disarm a free people.

Texas House Democratic Caucus chief, Rep. Chris Turner says that Republicans who resist gun control are “scapegoating people with mental health issues.”

Evidence of this is the immediate demand of Rep. Roland Gutierrez, Democrat of San Antonio, after the mass murder in El Paso, of a set of gun control laws. Each of his 5 demands could be legitimately debated but not one of them would have applied to the El Paso mass murder as we understand the situation. Not only that, there is little evidence to suggest that these gun control demands would have affected most of the mass murders in which firearms were used.

So, if the proposed “solutions” to mass murder do not apply to most of the mass murders we have witnessed these many years, is it not legitimate to believe that the goal of these Democrat Leftists is not to significantly reduce mass murder but to significantly reduce the existence of an armed free people?

Working to reduce murder is as old as humanity and is a worthy endeavor. However, trying to take away the firearms of everyone who didn’t misuse such, who didn’t commit murder, is not.

It simply results in a people who can be controlled by political tyrants.
