According to the Lubbock Police Department, officers were called to the 3500 block of 38th street, just before 10:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 26th, following reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, LPD officers located 43 year-old Oliver Perez with a gunshot wound.
Perez was transported to UMC with serious injuries.
He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Information obtained through the initial course of the investigation indicate Perez was attempting to burglarize vehicles and homes in the area when he was shot by a homeowner.
