Sen. Huffines: “stop red light cameras and to hold cities accountable”

It’s an option that isn’t afforded to a hardworking, taxpaying Texan who is accused of breaking the law.”

Huffines cited an KXAN television report from September in Austin that said 46 Texas cities with red light cameras had failed to do the engineering study required by state law.

“When a citizen breaks state law, he or she is fined or winds up in jail,” Huffines said in the press release. “Yet with dozens of Texas cities illegally operating red light cameras, there appears to be no consequence or accountability. That’s more than unacceptable, it’s an outrage.”
