Hi folks,
Just a quick note from the road. I'm on day 5 of my 3-week trip up & down the
Rockies in my RV. It's just me, my RV, and my Jeep tagging along behind. It's
pretty much a nature photography trip, with the exception of attending my
brother's wedding in Boise this weekend. I'll pick up Mom & Dad for a return to
Yellowstone after 35 years, which will be a blast.
I make regular stops along the road to capture a flower, scene, or wild life
that caught my eye. Going up & down the mountains with a heavy Jeep towed behind
puts a strain on the RV, so I also end up stopping when I have little choice on
the when & where. It vapor locks suddenly, requiring me to stop pretty much
right there to cool the engine compartment enough to continue.
It's both comforting and a little alarming that many people stop to make sure
everything is OK. A few times, less than reputable looking loners have stopped,
but in all cases, they just were hard working farmers or welders with a scruffy
appearance.
Still, comfort is knowing I have a handgun in my pocket, should I ever need it.
It's become as much a part of my travels as my cameras and toothbrush. I only
wish I had the option to carry at work (TTU) as well.
Thanks much for your training and wisdom!
Tom H.
