Pratt,
I caught just a smidgen of your comments on the latest news in the Timothy Cole case. Your statement was something to the effect of "why is the city being such butt-heads" about releasing information. I take it that this indicates a critical position on your part against the city. If so, that is very reassuring to me.
I went to the AJ on-line and saw the story. Seems that the Cole family, via Innocence Project lawyers, wants to depose the original officers, and the officers' attorney (a city employee?) is resisting.
This really infuriates me. There is no question that serious police and prosecutorial misconduct took place in this case, and justice simply demands that no stone be left unturned.
Although I'm a very law and order person, I say there's a real problem with local police, and it is not confined to the past, as the 2006 McCallan taser case showed (despite the acquittal).
This needs to be publicly discussed more.
Rick

What I said is the that City of Lubbock was being a Jackass in the Tim Cole case. And, there will be more discussion. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram story is worth reading too: http://www.star-telegram.com/2010/05/10/2178646/defendants-in-tim-cole-case-file.html
