Robert,
I listened with your amusement to the portion of the show yesterday (Monday, Oct 5, 2009) concerning Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Hank Gilbert and his belief that Governor Perry encouraged Kinky Friedman’s run for governor in 2006. Apparently he believes this because of the number of rumors he has heard about this, although he admits in the story he has no evidence to support this assertion.
When I was a student at the University of Texas at Austin, there was a popular Daily Texan comic strip character named Hank the Hallucination who had a very successful political career that perhaps Mr. Gilbert is trying to emulate: Hank the Hallucination defeated “The Forehead”, Paul Begala, for UT Student Association president.
[See comic here. And I added this one too - Pratt]
Because Hank Gilbert is apparently delusional, I propose that we start calling him Hank the Hallucinator.
Cordially,
David
