According to Grand Prairie police, a shooting happened at about 2 a.m. at an apartment complex where investigators believe a thief was trying to steal the rims and tires from a vehicle.
The vehicle’s owner heard the sound of an impact wrench and went outside and confronted the alleged thief.
At some point in the confrontation the owner of the vehicle opened fire on the man trying to steal the rims and tires. The man was taken to a local hospital at which he was officially pronounced as dead.

The owner who fired the shots is cooperating with police and has not been charged in the incident.
