We honor Texas First Responders, of all types

Pratt on Texas - copyright Pratt on Texas all rights reservedSeptember 11th is Patriot Day and Texas First Responders Day and while the attack on our country on 11 September 2001 is now almost a generation in the past, we have been reminded daily of late of the bravery, heroism, and general sense of duty held by most of what we now call first responders.

On Texas First Responders Day, we recognize those who walk into danger to help save and protect the innocent and suffering.

A strike team of 13 police department’s officers including many from Lubbock, “pulled out more than 700 people out of the [Harvey flood] water in the first three days” according to Lubbock PD Sergeant Korie Archambault.

“We got in the water, it was still raining and we went down the street in our boat and pulled out as many people as we could. Checking for holes to fall in and obstacles, we had our boat over top of cars, we got stuck on a bridge one time, it was high water stuff,” Archambault said in a KLBK report.

what thousands of people demonstrated is that they were ready to satisfy the moral obligation to do what good that is within your grasp so to do.

And the response to Harvey in Texas reminded us of an even higher ideal: It need not be your job or profession to charge into danger to help those in need. In fact, what thousands of people demonstrated is that they were ready to satisfy the moral obligation to do what good that is within your grasp so to do.

Suffering will not end until this world ends, God Himself came among us as Jesus and shared in our suffering with the aim of saving us from eternal suffering. His example is what we are to follow, official first responder or not. Do all good that we are able.
