In the 1970’s the McGovernite liberals took over the Democratic Party nationally and by the end of the decade Texas. They pushed soft-on-crime policies so far that violent crime rates explode in the 1980’s through the 1990’s only abating when conservative Republicans re-took many state legislatures and in Texas and much of the South gained majorities for the first time in the century.

In Texas, for example, the murder-rate per 100,000 people was 11.6 in 1970; 16.9 in 1980; 14.1 in 1990 and then after tough on crime policies, prison building, and arming of citizens, dropped to 5.9 per 100,000 in 2000 and 4.9 in 2010 which is a third of what the murder rate was in Texas in 1990 and less than a third of the 1980 rate.

But the Leftwing, all that is left of the Texas Democrat Party, has never stopped trying to roll back tough-on-crime reforms. And this year the Texas House has passed liberal Harold Dutton’s bill, HB122 which moves the age of criminal responsibility from 17 to 18.

Sadly from the northwest part of the state reps Ken King, Drew Darby and James Frank voted to coddle 17-year-old criminals as if they were children.

Here are the reps you may know who voted to keep us safer and preserve our policies which massively lowered the violent crime rate in Texas by incarcerating more young murderous thugs: Representatives Craddick and Landgraf; Burrows and Frullo; Lambert and Lang; Price and Smithee, and Springer voted no which keeps Texans safe.

Shameful, dangerous, and there is no amount of talking which excuses such.

* “Unofficial” record vote from the House website as of 4/20/2017

UPDATE: ‘Raise the Age’ legislation pronounced dead for this year

  1. “Thug” has become a racial word, similar to the N-word.

Only in the mind of a bigot or racist, not in mine. I use the dictionary definitions for my language and the top-two for thug are: a man who is violent, especially a criminal & an aggressive and violent young criminal. Does your fantasy world include it’s own dictionary?
