How many of you remember Dr. John Zerwas?

He’s a top operative of Speaker of the Texas House Joe Straus, a state representative from Fort Bend County outside Houston. He was also the loudest non-Democrat voice in Texas to embrace expansion of Medicaid  as Obamacare called for.

In the Leftwing Texas Observer, way back in 2013, you’ll find this: “Republican State Rep. John Zerwas, a physician from Simonton, led the charge with House Bill 3791, which he coined “The Texas Solution” to expanding health care coverage for up to 1.5 million Texans.” And you’ll find Zerwas mentioned at Progress Texas’ website in a story “Who Supports Medicaid Expansion in Texas.”

Zerwas wanted the same policies as did Democrats, he just wanted different labels on things to make it appear he’s not a liberal.

Take a look at NPR in 2015 and you’ll find this: “Republican Rep. John Zerwas is himself an anesthesiologist who represents a conservative suburb southwest of Houston. Like all his Republican colleagues in the Texas House and Senate, Zerwas opposes the Affordable Care Act. Nevertheless, he’s trying to find a way for Texas to take the Medicaid expansion money by reclassifying it as something else, like a federal block grant or some other mechanism — anything that’s not called Obamacare.”

Zerwas wanted the same policies as did Democrats, he just wanted different labels on things to make it appear he’s not a liberal.

Worse, his position on Medicaid expansion proved a massive failure state by state. [See: Obamacare’s latest failure: Medicaid expansion.]

So, of all 150 members of the Texas House of Representatives, to whom did Speaker Joe Straus hand control of the money spending House Appropriations committee?

None other than John Zerwas with his proven to be bad fiscal judgment and all.

No wonder the Democrats and the press praise Speaker Straus at every turn.

What do you think?...
