The Obama-run Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD, has a report out that will be unwelcome among even fellow liberals.

According to a report at KJTV Fox34: “There are fewer people living on the streets according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Homelessness in Texas has dropped nearly 42 percent since 2007.”

This is from a bunch who do all they can to overhype the numbers of homeless by expanding the definition of homeless to the point of absurdity. This is from people who politically wish to overstate the numbers of those who are “sleeping rough” as the Brits say.

Having HUD report that homelessness in Texas has fallen by a whopping 42% over the past decade is astounding and makes me wonder just how much lower the count really is.

Having HUD report that homelessness in Texas has fallen by a whopping 42% over the past decade is astounding and makes me wonder just how much lower the count really is.

The Fox34 reporter spoke with a local bum-advocate who predictably said the numbers don’t tell the whole story and that there are more than are being counted, telling us they use some hocus pocus formula to raise the number they actually count by about forty percent. That’s no surprise and it shows just how more astounding are the numbers reported by HUD.

Now, how did Texas lower the homeless count so much? Was it government social welfare programs?

No, government programs haven’t significantly reduced the problem. It is a robust, growing private sector economy which appreciably mitigates such problems.

The heavy social welfare states like California and New York are awash in bums on the streets. Their government models have failed.

A strong economy is what gives people a true opportunity to improve their lot in life.
