Kalea and Omar Hernandez live in southwest Lubbock and have seen miscreants roaming their neighborhood and have caught footage of some on home security video.
On 22 September, the couple who both serve in the Army Reserve and say that burglars have already been caught on video taking military equipment from their pickup truck, saw a group of four walking around on their street and peering into house windows and vehicles via their video surveillance cameras.
After having decided to continue watching the camera feeds closely, just a few days later on 26 September, Kalea Hernandez spotted another group of suspected burglars.
“I woke up my husband, we grabbed our weapons, shot out the door and caught two of them. And the other two ran off,” she explained as she shared the surveillance video with KAMC TV.
“We did what we had to do,” she said.
“Saw them, headed out the door. She went one way, I went the other,” Omar added.
The couple held two of the would-be burglars at gunpoint until Lubbock Police arrived.
“I’m just glad nobody got hurt and glad we weren’t put in a threatening position and that it didn’t end in a bad way. Luckily those two were really scared when they had a gun pointed in their face,” Kalea told KAMC news.

The obvious problem with this story is that if these “suspects” were walking around in a public space and not caught in the act of committing a crime, this anti-wimp couple could face several different charges themselves. You simply cannot assume someone is about to commit a crime – just a note of caution. – Pratt
