“Investigators said that three male suspects attempted to steal a small flat-bed trailer that was parked on the side of the street. The homeowner heard the noise and grabbed his gun and went outside.
“The homeowner saw the suspects and shot at them, deputies said. However, the suspects also had a gun and shot back at the homeowner, shooting him in the upper chest.
“Deputies said the victim was transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. He is expected to be OK.
