Why it’s so easy to vote for Robertson in TX19

One of the three biggest runoff races in Texas is for Texas’ 19th Congressional District and, as the experienced would expect, the race has seen accusations, disclosures, and information lobbed back and forth as if from catapults in some historical battle.

For me the most surprising part of the TX19 race has been the role one local newspaper has played in purposely misleading voters by withholding information, spinning words to mean things the words were never intended to mean, and generally allowing a reporter to act as an operative of a candidate in the race. When the news page becomes indistinguishable from the editorial page, reputation is no longer of concern.

His opponent, Jodey Arrington, is a lifelong political operative, Washington-insider, friend of the Lobby, and wants a lifelong career as an elected official.

For me, it’s easy to set aside all the claims from each side and still come to an obvious conclusion that one candidate is superior to the other.

In TX19 you have a local businessman, Glen Robertson, running. Robertson has made his money in the private sector and not, it is worth mentioning, through government contracts. Robertson is not part of any self-appointed social elitist groups, is thoroughly approachable, says what he means, and fully understands the problems government presents to business in America.

His opponent, Jodey Arrington, is a lifelong political operative, Washington-insider, friend of the Lobby, and wants a lifelong career as an elected official.

That alone, no matter what either candidate has done or said in this race, is enough for me to vote for Glen Robertson.

  1. Dan Seale says

Voted this afternoon for Glenn. Hoping the people are smart enough to elect a person that is one of us, a typical Texan. We sure don’t need another person that will take orders from the leadership and not the people. A vote for Glenn is a vote for a new voice in Washington. One that will listen to us.

  2. Heard Glen and Jodey speak in Big Spring tonight. Jodey sounded like a man riding on everyone else’s coattails. He accused Glen of lying. My experience as a 40 year high school teacher is that the kid who starts accusing everyone else of lying is the one usually lying.
