Border security may depend on Texas GOP primary runoffs

“Mexican authorities have discovered a series of human remains in a clandestine gravesite less than 100 yards away from the Texas border that was used by members of the Gulf Cartel to dispose of bodies,” reported Breitbart Texas.

Breitbart Texas has repeatedly reported, the border city of Matamoros, twin to Brownsville, “has suffered through a reign of terror as members of the Gulf Cartel began to kidnap innocent victims in order to demand hefty ransoms, various victims died even after a ransom was paid.”

The abductions, raids on homes by fake police, murders for hire, drug trade, and of course human smuggling, haven’t been limited to the west bank of the Rio Grande, or Rio Bravo as it is known on that side. No, the violence and destruction is in Texas and not just along the border. KAMC TV reported this last week that two Seminole residents were arrested on charges of cocaine distribution and were believed to be linked to a Mexican trafficking organization.

Texas is doing about all it can with Lt. Governor Patrick and legislative conservatives having pushed through big funding to grow DPS and significantly enhance Texas law enforcement in border regions. Fortunately the self-professed moderate running the House, one Joe Straus, and his crew didn’t prevail in their attempt to pass a watered down border security bill that had about half the funding for what was immediately needed.

The question for the next Texas Legislature will be what to do next. The moderates’ record isn’t very good so let’s hope strong conservatives win the many GOP primary runoffs around the state.
