We learned this week that Corpus Christi -native Gail Minglana Martinez, 41, was killed in Brussels, Belgium. Gail was a 1992 graduate of Flour Bluff High School and died on foreign soil as a result of injuries she received in the bombings perpetrated by those who kill innocents in the name of their Islamic faith.

Congressman Blake Farenthold released the information this week about the death of Mrs. Martinez in Brussels. From Farenthold we also learned that her children and husband were also injured in the bombings and are still hospitalized. Gail was married to Kato Martinez, an officer in our United States Air Force who is currently stationed in Europe.

Constantly searching for and announcing reasons to justify why brutal murderers murder the innocent is not winning a war, it is the process of capitulation.

I’m increasingly of the opinion that the Daily Mail columnist and U.K. radio hostess Katie Hopkins is correct in a sense that Western Civilization is losing ground in the war Islamists are waging upon us. “Terror is no longer something which shakes us into silence, cowers us into defeat. It is no longer surprising. We have given it appropriate responses, images, even its own vocabulary, enabling us to deal with it as if it were commonplace, something of the everyday,” she wrote.

“We have normalized horror,” Hopkins frankly asserted and explained why we in the West aren’t winning in this war. In a later column she pointed out the “The real threat is not the far right – it’s the smug left!” She addressed how anti-Islamist terror protesters were water-cannoned by Belgian police.

We are losing the battle because the smug Left, which includes many moderates seduced by Leftist propaganda, keep trying to explain away terror and the Islamic-based movements behind such.

Constantly searching for and announcing reasons to justify why brutal murderers murder the innocent is not winning a war, it is the process of capitulation.
